December 31, 2020

Happy new year! Or happy end of the year? Whether you’re excited for new beginnings or overdue endings, Squanch Games is right there with you.

We’ve also had a hell of a year here and are looking forward to 2021. Who better to discuss that than co-founder Justin Roiland, who was able to answer a few questions from us that we’re delivering to you on New Year’s Eve. It’s just a short little question and answer session, but hopefully it gets you the right kind of energy to put this year behind you and go forth into the new one.

Yeesh. 2020, huh? How are you feeling about Squanch Games now after this year?

I have never been more excited about squanch games. We have some absolutely incredibly projects in development and I couldn’t be happier. I am lucky to have the team I have and this creative outlet.

What have been the biggest challenges with the studio this year?

Sorting out distributed development. Everyone working from home. Having to shift how production handles that. It has been different but still good.

What have been opportunities for Squanch? Were they expected?

I think there is a huge market for comedic action/ adventure games and I guess that’s a good opportunity for us. It’s more like... making the games I wish existed. Stuff I just want to play.

What are you most proud of this year?

Hmm. Lots of stuff but I can’t talk about any of it yet! The game biz is so secretive

At the risk of tempting fate, what are you looking forward to in 2021?

Being with family, pushing forward on amazing top secret projects... and hopefully seeing the team in-person again! Going out!

Do you have a message for Squanch Games fans around the world as we close out 2020?

I know this year has been tough. Hang in there. The lowest lows bring the highest highs.
