Grandma's Tips for Making a Great Pancake

As Squanch Networks is premiering a new Dancakes video today, Chef Trover also thought it would be a great time to share his grandmother’s tips for making the most delicious pancakes.

According to Trover’s Grandma, this recipe goes back generations, originating with a family member who witnessed the first pancake to have ever been made in the galaxy. Up until now, these tips have never been shared with anyone outside of the family.

But as we quickly approach Trover’s anniversary, Trover’s Grandma has finally agreed to let Trover share the coveted tips.

Trover's Family Tips on Making Great Pancakes:

1. Are your ingredients fresh? Because they better look like they were just birthed if you want these tips to work. And if they aren’t, just go. Please go.

2. If you want your pancakes smooth as silk, just remember to use some buttermilk! Anything else, just doesn’t even come close.

3. Love your lumps. Always love your lumps. There is no reason to ever be ashamed of them. In fact, you’d be surprised at how many people love the sweet curvature of a ball of flour in a nice creamy batter.

4. Don’t wait, get on it. Put that batter in the pan as soon as you can! Don’t let it sit. Don’t let it bathe, don’t let it sleep, eat, use your bathroom... nothing. Put it in the pan.

5. Remember, heavy-bottomed pans make the rocking world go round, so be sure to use one when you’re ready to throw dem puppies onto the red fire light.

6. Butter is easier to burn your pancake’s little tush on, but it’s still better than oil! So just keep cleaning and rub -rub-rubbing that butter in between pancakes. Don’t worry, the pan likes it.

7. Flip that bitch. When you are making a pancake, you have to learn the signs. Let the pancake talk to you. Let it tell YOU when it wants to be flipped by showing you a little bubble action, and some drying around the edges.

8. And lastly, make sure to serve while they are nice and warm. Like the gentle embrace of a warm, heated blanket on a cold winter day - but for your mouth hole.
